Gautam’s assurance to landless farmers
Chitwan, December 20:
Deputy Prime Minister and minister for home affairs Bam Dev Gautam said the landless people’s woes would be resolved within two years.
“The landless farmers, including Haruwa-charuwa and all the backward communities would be provided with land as per the land reforms programme,” Gautam said at a national
assembly of landless farmers organised by the Federation of All Nepal Farmers here today.
Gautam, also the president of the CPN-UML-affiliated All Nepal Peasants’ Federation, said the land reforms programme would provide land to the landless farmers.
The Home Minister also said that 20 to 24 per cent of the farmers in the country are landless.
“Government is serious about the agriculture sector, which is the backbone of the country,” Gautam added.
Home Minister Gautam also urged the security personnel and civil servants in the district to move ahead with new thoughts and said the government had many programmes in the offing.
