General election in two years: Bhandari
KATHMANDU: Defence Minister Bidhya Devi Bhandari today expressed her commitment to investigating into the cases of Prachanda Thaiba, Ram Hari Shrestha, Bibek Devkota and others victimised by the former government.
“The new government is committed for assuring peace and security to its people in real sense,” said Bhandari while addressing a felicitation programme organised by the All Nepal Women Union.
She said the present government was committed to the timely drafting of new constitution, ensuring peace and security and declaring the date for the general election.
She said the new government would take up to two years for completing all the tasks.
She said though the women had contributed towards the political, as well as social, change in the country, they had remained backward due to the patriarchal practices of our society.
The UML vice-chairman also said she would strive to ensure the rights of women while drafting the new constitution.
