KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 28

Senior Advocate Gopal Krishna Ghimire has been nominated as coordinator of the Nepali Congress Central Election Committee.

"Ghimire was nominated to the post today after Senior Advocate Mahadev Prasad Yadav, who was the committee coordinator earlier, resigned from the post citing health concerns," said Nepali Congress Party Office Acting Chief Secretary Pradip Parajuli.

Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba approved, as per the party's statute, the resignation tendered by coordinator Yadav today itself.

Senior Advocate Ghimire was the committee's senior member prior to this.

The major ruling party, Nepali Congress started organising its ward-level convention from September 3 as part of its 14th General Convention.

Since then, the party has already conducted its convention at the rural municipality, municipality, sub-municipality and metropolis level, at the province election constituency level, at the House of Representatives election constituency level and at the district level in most districts.

The Nepali Congress' General Convention is taking place from December 10 to 26 in Kathmandu.
