SINDHUPALCHOK: Asian Journalist Association (AJA), under its programme for financial assistance to next of kin of journalist killed during the Maoist insurgency, has handed over Rs 18,000 to Mithila Khadka, spouse of Gyanendra Khadka.

Mithila was handed over the financial assistance for the education of her three children. Similarly, Shova Budhathoki, spouse of journo Kanchhan Priyadarshi, who was killed during the insurgency, also received Rs 6,000 for the education of her daughter.

Meanwhile, Bishnu Nisthuri, chairman of the association, promised to assist them until their higher education. He added, ‘’We have launched this programme aiming to support the education of slain journos’ children.
