A minor girl drowned in a pond in Naraha Rural Municipality-3 in Siraha on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Gudiya Khatun, 11, of the rural municipality.
Ward Chairman Mohammad Rustam Ansari said that the incident occurred while the minor was taking bath in the pond. He said that local youths were deployed in the site as soon as the information about the incident reached the village.
The doctors at RK Medicity Hospital in Dhangadhimai Municipality declared the minor death on arrival. The body has been sent to the Lahan-based Ram Kumar Uma Prasad Memorial Hospital for postmortem and further investigation into the incident is under way, said police.
