Girl traffickers arrested

Jhapa, April 12

Security forces today arrested two men involved in trafficking girls to India. The arrested were identified as Harka Bahadur Limbu, 32, and Ammar Bahadur Bhujel, 28, of Kachankawal Rural Municipality. The duo was arrested while facilitating the travel of a 24-year-old girl of Bhadrapur Municipality to India.

“The men were taking her to Thakurgunj-based railway in India when we held them and rescued the girl,” said SP Ramesh Subedi of Armed Police Force Border Security Office, Jhapa.

The three were riding on a scooter to the railway station when APF arrested them following a tip-off.

According to SP Subedi, the two men were working for a woman by the name of Durgamaya Gurung of Bhadrapur.

“The two men were told to take the girl to Thakurgunj so that she could then be sent to New Delhi,” he said.

It was also learnt that there were plans to send the woman to Kuwait from Delhi.
