Government begins collecting data of quake victims

The government has begun collecting data of earthquake victims from Ramechhap district. The data of the victims of two municipalities and five VDCs of the district will be collected through digital means in the first phase.

Teams of engineers from the Central Department of Statistics and social mobilisers have started the task. Before starting data collection, the department had opened a contact office in coordination with the DDC and provided training to the mobilisers.

The team has started collecting data in Manthali and Ramechhap municipalities and Tilpung, Khimti, Gothgaun, Rampur and Deurali VDCs in the first phase. Soon after the data collection in the areas is completed, data collection of other 40 VDCs will begin, informed the department.

The engineers will upload the data into the server of Central Bureau of Statistics through the internet, said Deepak Bhatta, Ramechhap coordinator of Heart, an NGO, which has been supporting the team. According to him, as many as 33 teams have been deployed in the villages for the task.
