Government covering up corruption, says Paudel

Damauli, September 2

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel today accused the KP Sharma Oli-led government of trying to cover up corruption on the purchase of air bus (wide body) aircraft.

Speaking at a meeting organised by Nepali Congress cadres in Aabukhaireni, Tanahun, Paudel alleged that the government was trying to conceal corruption while buying wide body aircraft.

“Corruption worth billions took place while purchasing a wide body aircraft. Instead of taking action against people involved in corruption, the government is working to hide the wrongdoing”, Paudel charged.

He argued that it was ridiculous that Oli’s government had failed to take action against corrupt individuals after Financial General Comptroller Office confirmed corruption in the air bus deal.

“Oli pledged to check corruption when he was sworn-in. But, why is he silent even when massive corruption has taken place while purchasing the aircraft?” he wondered.

Paudel flayed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for failing to control corruption. “Silence maintained in the case of corruption while buying the wide body aircraft reveals the government’s true character,” Poudel held.

He directed the party rank and file to expose the government’s wrongdoings and malpractices. He criticised the government for failing to do anything for the country and the people.
