Govt employee arrested for bribery

Kavre, October 9

A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today caught a first class non-gazetted officer at the Kavre District Court red-handed with bribe money.

The anti-graft body caught first class non-gazetted officer Rajendra Khatri with Rs 125,000 bribe money from Dhulikhel Bus Park. The CIAA stated that Khatri had taken bribe money with a promise to settle the case of the accident that took place in Bhumlu Rural Municipality along the Araniko Highway almost a month ago in Kavre.

Purna Bahadur Pandey of Bigu Rural Municipality-4, Dolakha was injured when a mini tipper hit a Bolero jeep. An official at the anti-graft body said Khatri had demanded Rs 125,000 with Dol Prasad Dulal, the father of mini-tipper’s driver, threatening that his son would be sent to jail for eight years if the sought money was not given.

The injured Pandey’s relatives had filed a case against mini-tipper driver Sudip Dulal. Dol Prasad Dulal registered a complaint with the CIAA after Khatri demanded bribe money.

Khatri has been sent to the CIAA custody for further investigation into the matter.
