Panel formed to probe 'mistreatment' to President in Janakpur

KATHMANDU: The government on Monday formed a four-member committee to investigate into alleged mistreatment to President Bidya Devi Bhandari in Janakpur last week.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Laxmi Prasad Dhakal, said the team comprises Joint-Secretary Binod KC as the coordinator and DIG Hemanta Bahadur Pal, Armed Police Force DIG Arbinda Dhital and Investigation Director Yadulal Kharel as members.

The team is assigned to submit its report to the Ministry within seven days.

The United Democratic Madhesi Front cadres on Wednesday had protested the President's visit to the Janaki Temple and reportedly mistreated her.

They had also vandalised the historic temple during the protest.

Amid the protests, the Head of the State, however, had visited the Temple to observe the Vivaha Panchami Mahotsav.
