Government plundering country: says NC leader Deuba
Pokhara, November 23
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today accused KP Sharma Oli-led government of looting the country.
Addressing a by-election mass meeting at Pokhara-16, Deuba charged that the government had looted the country by raising hefty tax from businesses and taking commission from big projects.
Deuba charged that PM Oli had made the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority like the then Shahi commission formed by former king Gyanendra Shah. He said the government had institutionalised corruption and people were fed up with it. He warned that he would not allow passage of the ordinance on the Constitutional Council at any cost. “Nepali Congress will not allow the passage of the Constitutional Council ordinance from the Parliament as it will curtail many rights guaranteed by the constitution,” he added.
Deuba blamed that Oli’s nationalism had turned into surrender on Kalapani issue. “India printed new political map incorporating Nepal’s Kalapani inside its territory in consultation with PM Oli as India does not print map without asking Nepal,” Deuba claimed. He charged that PM Oli was going to hand over Kalapani and Lipulek to India.
He, however, claimed that his party would not allow even an inch of Nepal’s land to be encroached upon by India.
At the programme, Senior NC leader Ramchandra Paudel accused Oli of trying to control the Constitutional Council. “PM Oli is trying to become authoritarian by taking the Constitutional Council in his hands,” Paudel charged. He said
the move was against democracy, constitution and federalism.
NC General Secretary Sashank Koirala charged that Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal were bent on ending democracy. He said ministers had done nothing but inaugurating projects that had started during the NC’s tenure.
