Govt set to launch health insurance

The government is all set to implement the Health Security Insurance Programme in all health facilities across Tanahun after the local level elections.
The programme was implemented in three districts in the first phase and five districts in the second phase with the aim to ensuring access to quality health service. The programme will be implemented in Tanahun and four other districts in the third phase.
Social Health Security Development Committee and District Health Office of Tanahun organised an orientation for health workers ahead of the programme’s launch in the district today.
Under Secretary at the Health Ministry Shambhu Regmi, Social Health Security Development Committee Executive Director Dr Gunraj Lohani and Senior Public Health Administrator Dr Bhuwan Poudel spoke about benefits of the insurance programme at the orientation. “As many as 350 health workers will be trained in the next orientation,” informed Public Health Inspector Pramod Soti.
As per the insurance programme, a family of five members has to pay Rs 2,500 every year for the health insurance facility. A family of more than five has to pay Rs 2,500 and Rs 425 for each extra member.
While a five-member family will be able to claim up to Rs 50,000 per year if needed, any family with more than five members will be liable to Rs 50,000 plus Rs 10,000 for each extra member under the insurance programme.
