KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 23

Minister of Education, Science, and Technology Devendra Paudel has said preparations are under way to endorse the Federal Education Act as there has been delay in this regard.

"Work started by the former education minister will continue and discussion with stakeholders on the subject of the federal education act is under way," said the minister at a meeting of the Education and Health Committee under the House of Representatives today.

Stating that the ministry had issued a circular to the local level to provide remunerations to the teachers of early childhood development programme, he said the issue would be incorporated in the Act so as to additionally strengthen it.

On the occasion, former education minister Girirajmani Pokharel urged the government to publish the 15th plan report prepared by the National Planning Commission and the report prepared by the high-level commission.

Also, former health minister Khagraj Adhikari suggested that parents' responsibility towards their children pursuing education should be mentioned in the law.
