Government to depute civil servants to provinces in bulk

Kathmandu, August 10

The government today decided to depute public servants (gazetted second class or lower) to provinces in bulk, and the provincial governments will deploy them as per their needs.

A meeting of the Cabinet took a decision to this effect with a view to addressing grievances of provinces that they have not been able to function due to human resources shortage, according to Minister of Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota, who is also the government’s spokesperson.

The Cabinet also decided to merge National Trading Company and National Trading Company to form National Supply Company. Baskota said since both these institutions were related to supply, the government felt one integrated company could discharge the functions.

The government also decided to table a bill related to public health, which is among the 34 fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution, in the Parliament. Baskota said more than 90 per cent of the bills related to fundamental rights which have to be endorsed by the Parliament by September 28 had been cleared by the Cabinet, and only around four to five remained.

The government will open a Child Correction Home each in Makawanpur and Doti districts to house children below 18 years old who are involved in criminal activities.
