Govt wasting time in plots against early polls, says Oli
DAMAK: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has accused the government of wasting time, instead of making preparations to hold elections on time.
He also blamed the government for engaging in trivial affairs with an intention not to hold the elections. The UML Chair was addressing the second full meeting of cadres of UML Constituency-1 in Jhapa.
Alerting to what he said achievements made so far would be at the risk if the elections failed to take place on time, he said the elections should not be postponed at any cost.
"The government is saying that it wants to conduct the elections. On the other hand, it says the polls cannot take place until the Constitution amendment bill is passed. The government is exhibiting double standard," he said.
He also claimed that the country would plunge into a severe political crisis if the elections failed to take place by the stipulated deadline of January 2018.
Also on the occasion, UML leader Subas Chandra Nembang said the present Constitution has accommodated demands of all and that there was no point of amending it.
