Governors of provinces likely to be sworn in today
Kathmandu, January 18
The newly appointed governors are likely to take oath of office and secrecy tomorrow.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa said the government could organise the oath taking ceremony tomorrow. He said the programme would be held at the Office of the President.
He, however, said that the government had not yet announced the programme till this evening.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission said that it would submit the results of the provincial assembly election to the governors of respective provinces after they took the oath of secrecy from the president.
Elected provincial assembly members have to take oath of secrecy from the governors of the respective province to be eligible voters in the NA election.
Chiefs and deputy chiefs of local levels and provincial assembly members are voters of the NA election.
EC Spokesperson Navaraj Dhakal said that the poll panel would publish voters’ list on January 21 as per its schedule. He said the EC is not concerned about whether or not the provincial assembly members take oath of secrecy to publish voters’ list.
