Govt against polls: Mahato
Dharan, December 30:
The president of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Rajendra Mahato, today accused the government of not wanting to hold Constituent Assembly polls. Speaking at a party programme here, Mahato said the repeated deferral of the CA polls pointed to the fact that the government was not serious about holding polls. He accused the government of cheating people. Mahato said the polls were deferred twice and challenged the government to defer the polls for third time.
“The demands of the Madhes would have been met by now had the government held the polls earlier,” he said, adding that the Madhes should have got autonomy by now. He accused Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and CPN-Maoist chairman Prachanda of working in tandem to spike the CA polls. “We will wait till January 19 for the election and after that the Madhes will witness a mass uprising,” said Mahato.
Joint president Laxman Lal Karna said a federal autonomous Madhes would work for the welfare of Madhesis. He called Madhesis to unite. “The Madhesis have only protested against those in the government who have ignored the sentiments of the Madhes, but the Pahadey people have never understood this and have always spoken ill of Madhesis,” Karna further said.
