Govt allocates 3 billion for Gautam Buddha Airport

KATHMANDU: The government is all set to bring the Gautam Buddha International Airport into operation from the coming fiscal year.

Minister for Finance Yuvaraj Khatiwada has allocated Rs 3.34 billion for the airport that has already seen around 74 per cent of construction work completed.

Presenting the budget estimates for the fiscal year 2019/20 at the joint session of the Federal Parliament today, Minister Khatiwada said the government has given top priority for the construction of the airport.

Likewise, the under-construction Pokhara regional airport will be allocated a budget of Rs 8 billion.

He further said, Tribhuvan International Airport will be developed as a boutique airport, with a plan to operate it round-the-clock.
