Govt in final stage of fixing local polls date: Jabegu

KATHMANDU: State Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Shree Prasad Jabegu today said the government is in the final stage of preparations to announce the local election date.

Speaking to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti this morning at Phiddim of Panchthar district, the State Minister Jabegu said the election date would be announced within 15 days at the most.

Stating that the Constitution implementation process would kick off with the local level elections, Jabegu asserted that the government would not back off from the election now.

He also noted the necessity for agreement among the governing and the opposition parties and said the discussions and dialogues were being held for the same.

The political rights being raised by various classes and communities still need to be secured, Jabegu mentioned and stressed the need for moving forward together on a path of securing the remaining rights and country's prosperity.

State Minister Jabegu, who arrived for a consultation on Constituency Infrastructure Development Programme (CIDP) in his home district of Panchthar, also took stock of the district's security scenario, development works and work execution status in the government offices.
