Govt flayed for lawlessness
Kathmandu, August 24 :
Lawmakers at the House of Representatives (HoR) today criticised the government for not being able to maintain law and order situation across the nation, while a MP of the Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party (NWPP) raised question on UN’s role in peace building efforts in Nepal.
“When UN cannot impose economic sanction on Israel because of US backing to that country; what would the UN representatives arriving in Nepal can do?” asked Narayan Man Bijukchhe, the MP and leader of NWPP.
MP Raghuji Panta criticised the government on not being able to maintain law and order. He also criticised the government’s talks team for not making the Maoists follow the Ceasefire Code of Conduct. “Prime Minsiter’s attention should be drawn that the government has not been capable in meeting challenges of this transition period,” said Panta.
MP Lila Mani Pokhrel also criticised the Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for making controversial comment that no new Constitution was needed at present. “His remark has made formation of the Interim Constitution Drafting Committee a drama,” said Pokhrel.
MP Romi Gauchan raised the issue of MPs, who faced action taken by the parties. “What will be the status of MPs to whom the parties had taken action? Why such MPs are present in the parliament?” asked Gauchan. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ram Saran Mahat today tabled six bills at the Ho-use, which has been adjourned until next Monday.
