Govt honours Everest Cabinet meet helpers

KATHMANDU: The government today felicitated persons who contributed in conducting the Everest Base Camp Cabinet meeting on December 4.

Unveiling an inscription on the Everest Base Camp Cabinet Meeting on the premises of Narayanhiti Museum today, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal applauded the helping hands for the conduction of the programme.

“We were able to raise the voice on the melting of the Himalayas due to climate change in the global arena and it was a grand success,” said Nepal.

The Everest Cabinet meeting was held on December 4, three days ahead of the Copenhagen summit on climate change in Denmark.

Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Deepak Bohara said, “That was an initial work, but we will move ahead with greater pace in future to save the Himalayas from the effects of climate change, while we have to garner support from international communities.”
