Most government offices in Ramechhap have been functioning without their chiefs.

Having left for home in the third week of July, they are yet to report to duty stations, much to the chagrin of service seekers.

Among the offices chiefs who have long been away from the office are Khandadevi Rural Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Bishnu Prasad Sharma, District Health Office Chief Ram Prasad Pathak, District Treasury Controller Office Chief Yamuna Pradhan, Chief District Attorney Krishna Prasad Baral and District Project Implementation Unit Chief Prabhakar Lal Karna.

Other absentee office chiefs are District Coordination Committee Chief Rajendra Kumar KC, Federal Drinking Water and Sewage Management Project’s Project Chief Jagannath Purbe, Infrastructure Development Office Chief Somaraj Timalsena, Road Division Office Chief Ramchandra Shah, District Project Implementation Unit Chief Nirmal Ghimire and Nepal Telecom Chief Bishnu Bhandari, among others.

This is not the first time such a large number of office chiefs have been away from their duty stations in the district. Acting Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Bhattarai disavowed knowledge about the absence of chiefs in many government offices. However, he promised action against the chiefs who had left the district without informing District Administration Office.
