KATHMANDU, JUNE 14

Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Yadav, has stated that the Bharatpur-based BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital has been providing treatment services by utilizing its means, resources, capacity, and technology to the maximum extent.

During an inspection of the hospital today, Minister Yadav emphasized that the hospital should offer better services to patients from across the country who come for treatment. "Cancer patients from all over the country visit this hospital for treatment. I have not heard that the hospital has discriminated against patients from within Chitwan district or other parts of the country," he said.

He explained that discussions were held with the Prime Minister regarding increasing the hospital's capacity to 1,000 beds and enhancing human resources. The Health Minister noted that the Prime Minister was positive about these proposals.

Additionally, the Health Minister argued that the tax levied on tobacco products should belong to the Ministry of Health and the Cancer Hospital.

On the occasion, the hospital's Executive Director, Dr. Shivaji Poudel, briefed the Health Minister on the hospital's introduction, objectives, services, and the number of patients visiting the hospital.

After the inspection, Minister Yadav also met with the visitors of the patients.
