Aryal addresses security challenges as police recover weapons from protests

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 25

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal said holding successful elections and establishing strong governance foundations represent the government's first priority.

Addressing the Lumbini Province-level Security Seminar in Bhairahawa, Aryal stated the government is conducting activities focused on elections and good governance while directing province authorities to prepare security plans aligned with the Central Security Committee's election security framework.

The Home Minister acknowledged security challenges posed by political parties acquiring looted weapons and absconded prisoners during recent unrest. "We have recovered most of the weapons through special operations and most of the prisoners have also returned to prisons," Aryal said, referencing the Gen-Z protests.

Lumbini Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya emphasised the need to boost morale among security personnel and civil servants. The province government is implementing strategic plans to maintain good governance, he added.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Federal Home Ministry and Lumbini Province's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law.
