Govt staff must enrol their wards in public schools

Dhankuta, April 23

Chaubise Rural Municipality in Dhankuta has made it mandatory for all government teachers, civil servants and people’s representatives to admit their wards to community schools.

A meeting of the rural municipality took a decision to this effect in a bid to improve the quality of education in community schools. The rural municipality meeting also decided that those who failed to do so would be deprived of state facilities.

According to the rural municipality, most of the teachers working in community schools send their children to private schools for quality education, but do not take the responsibility of children studying in their own schools. The rural municipality added the decision was taken as community schools in the rural municipality witnessed steep decline in the quality of education due to teachers’ negligence.

A source at the rural municipality said they were compelled to take such a decision after community school teachers were found investing in private schools.
