The government is preparing to introduce a revised school curriculum from the next academic session, Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said on Friday.
Speaking at a programme in Janakpurdham, Pokharel said preparations were underway to revise the existing curriculum in line with students' needs and changing times.
He said a taskforce had been formed to collect suggestions from stakeholders across the country, noting that a broad revision was necessary. The revised curriculum would be implemented from the next academic session based on the feedback received.
The new curriculum will also address the use of artificial intelligence in education and place greater emphasis on practical and technical education, Pokharel added.
He said the government was preparing to introduce the School Education Bill soon, expressing hope that longstanding problems in school education would be resolved once the legislation is enacted.
Madhesh Province Minister for Education and Culture Manoj Kumar Singh said the provincial government was ready to work with the federal government to improve the education system, prioritising policies and programmes aimed at raising quality.
Mahendra Parajuli, executive director of the Curriculum Development Centre, confirmed that the taskforce was actively working on the revision process.
The programme was attended by students, teachers and representatives of education-related organisations.
