Govt to revive sick industries: Shakya

Butwal, September 27:

Minister for Industry Ashta Laxmi Shakya said the government was coming up with a plan to revive the sick industries.

Shakya was speaking at a programme organised to mark the 28th anniversary of Rupandehi Industry Association.

Minister Shakya said the government would frame new industrial policy keeping in view the historical changes the country saw after the elections.

Constituent Assembly member Netra Panthi said all concerned should work keeping in mind the goal to build new Nepal.

Ram Chandra Dhakal of the Nepali Congress, Lila Giri of the CPN-UML, Basanta Shrestha of the CPN-UML, industrialist Nawa Raj Shrestha, Mahendra Narayan Shrestha, journalist Deepak Gyawali and labour leader Kamal Gautam called on the government to implement policies effectively.

They called on the state to make sure that taxes are not misused, resolve problems of the industrial sector and regulate the Nepal-India border.

Altogether 725 workers are affiliated to the association, which was established 12 years ago.
