KATHMANDU, AUGUST 13

Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has stated that the three tiers of government are working to bring 55 basic hospitals into operation.

Responding to lawmakers' queries during today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Paudel said programmes have been initiated to operationalize other basic hospitals that have already been handed over to local governments.

Preparations are underway to deploy doctors and supply medical equipment to these facilities, he added, asserting that the ministry has fulfilled its commitments on time and in accordance with established procedures.

"Some completed basic hospitals have yet to come into operation due to unresolved procedural issues," the Minister noted.

Citing an example, he said the basic hospital constructed at Sonari Narainapur–4 in Banke district has achieved 100 percent physical completion but has not yet been handed over. Once the handover process is complete, the hospital will be brought into operation, he assured.
