KATHMANDU, JANUARY 5

The government has warned of legal action to the persons and groups attempting to unsettle religious tolerance.

The central security committee meeting held at Home Ministry on Sunday made it clear that the local administration plays a coordinating role to prevent worsening of situation and requests the provincial and local governments for similar coordination on management of any conflict in community.

Spokesperson at the ministry, Anand Koirala, informed that the meeting dwelt on the activities including the spread of misleading contents on social networks that target religious groups and sully other's religious faiths. The ministry has decided to hold a broader meeting with the National Human Rights Commission, constitutional commissions and security agencies on Monday.

The meeting would take stock of the preparations made for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

Similarly, the ministry decided to hold a broader discussion on how the security agencies could be made further active by intensifying manhunt for escaped prisoners during the Gen Z movement.
