Govt will hold international media summit in 2020, says Baskota

Minister of Information and Communications Gokul Prasad Baskota today said that the government would organise an international media summit next year, coinciding with ‘Visit Nepal-2020’.

Addressing Nepal Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association’s first International Conference in Banepa, Minister Baskota said that an international summit would be held in partnership with Nepali media and media houses. Baskota urged hotel and tourism entrepreneurs to collaborate with the government for the international summit. “I want you to lead Visit Nepal-2020,” he added.

Floods had rendered a severe blow to its tourism sector in Thailand in 2008. An international media summit organised by the Thai government had helped to revive its tourism sector, according to Minister Baskota.

Baskota assured that the government would formulate policies to assist hoteliers and tourism entrepreneurs. He informed that the government had allocated Rs 100 million for preparation of the Visit Nepal-2020. He urged all and sundry including Tourism Ministry and Nepal Tourism Board to make the visit Nepal year a grand success.
