Bareng Rural Municipality in Baglung district has constructed a green park with the aim of attracting tourists. The park is located at Sukhaura of the rural municipality at the centre of Deurali, Bhaisekhola and Chhaharekhola waterfall, a tourist destination, linking Salyan, Sukhaura, and other popular sites.
"The park was constructed with an investment of Rs 800,000 allocated by Gandaki Province and the rural municipality in the current fiscal year," said Ambar Bahadur Serbaja, chairperson of Ward No 5 of the rural municipality.
"Situated at 1,700 metres above sea level, the park has potential in terms of tourism," he said. "It is located at the centre of the village. Local people can rest and enjoy here. The park has been constructed to facilitate children to spend their time in the outside environment, and also to attract domestic tourists. There are many construction works to be done. They will be completed after allocating budget in the next fiscal year."
"Construction of resting places and fencing and management of drinking water have been completed. Works like building a toilet and planting tree saplings are yet to be completed," he said.
"The park site has much potential to attract tourists and the park is well-equipped with tourism infrastructure," said the rural municipality chair Krishna Prasad Sharma. "We have been working for publicity and construction of tourism infrastructure after identifying tourist destinations. The park has been envisioned accordingly. Since it is a rural area, we are trying to connect art, culture, and custom of the village with tourism."
"The park aims to attract domestic tourists and raise the living standards of local people," he said.
"Sukhaura and Salyan villages produce local organic products such as potato and beans. Arrangements will be made for tourists for one night stay in the village," he said, adding, "It aims to promote these local products by providing them to visiting tourists as gift."
"Other tourist destinations at Ward No 3 of the rural municipality - Satyawati Temple at Batakachaur, Bhaisekhola and Chhaharekhola waterfalls have also been promoted," he said.
