Gun shots terrify locals

Itahari, August 7:

Locals of Bhantabari bazaar of Sunsari district were terrified last night after they heard shots being fired at their neighbourhood.

Two cadres of Terai Janatantrik Mukti Morcha had opened fire following a minor dispute with local CPN-UML cadres. Two cadres of Terai Janatantrik Mukti Morcha, Arbind Goit (Saptari) and Suresh Marweta of Shreepur (Sunsari), who were under the influence of alcohol, picked a quarrel with two local cadres of CPN-UML on political issues. When there was an altercation, Goit and Marweta fired a shot in the air at about 9:30 in the night and fled to India the same night, said SP at District Police Office (Sunsari), Birendra Babu Shrestha.

It was reported that the cadres of the Morcha used to come to the village there and threaten locals of taking actions if they did not follow their orders. SP Shrestha said investigation on the case is going on.
