Handicapped complain of less allowance
DHARAN: Physically Challenged Rehabilitation Centre has said that the allowance quotas of the government for physically challenged people were too meagre.
Kamala Niraula, president of the centre, said such people were yet to get their allowance though the government had declared to provide the sum in its current fiscal budget. "Though the government mentioned to provide allowance to disabled people, we haven't received any so far.”
Sunil Khadka, director of the centre, said the government had allocated the allowance for only 300 differently abled persons in Sunsari while it had allocated four quotas in Dharan Municipality. However, nobody has taken the allowance as there are over 2,000 disabled persons only in Dharan.
He also claimed that the problem persisted as the identity cards were distributed to disabled persons in an unsystematic way and without consulting concerned organisations.
Niraula urged the government to provide special provisions for education, health and employment for such persons.
