Haruwa-charuwas demand early resettlement
RAJBIRAJ: Haruwa-charuwas of Saptari district have demanded that their families be resettled at the earliest.
Haruwa-charuwas are people employed by villagers collectively for care to their cattle.
During a two-day Haruwa-charuwa district assembly in Rajbiraj, the landless farmers demanded that the government distribute them lands as per the family size to ensure their right to residence.
The assembly concluded issuing an 11-point declaration today.
They also stressed formulation of new laws to ensure that they enjoy their constitutional right.
Meanwhile, the assembly also elected the 17-member new committee of Haruwa-charuwa Forum under the leadership of Dashan Mandal.
Various stakeholders and rights activists had addressed the function.
