Heads should roll if SPA brass fails to hold polls: Khanal

Kathmandu, December 17:

Senior leader of the CPN-UML Jhala Nath Khanal said today that the leadership of the Seven-Party Alliance (SPA) should be changed if the existing leadership of the SPA fails to conduct the constituent assembly elections on schedule this time.

“This is the third decision of the political parties to hold the polls in mid-April,” he said, calling on the parties to hold the polls on schedule.

Without naming Madhesi leaders demanding a separate Madhesi state, Khanal said, “You cannot make a state on the basis of sentiments.”

Launching a book on Nepalka Rajnitik Samashya: Bishleshan Ra Rupantaranka Prakriyaharu penned by Dr Yuba Raj Sangroula, Speaker Subas Nembang urged the political parties to

end the transition period as soon as possible.

“The continuation of the transition period will snap the relation between the political parties and the people and will create a difficult situation in the country,” Nembang added.

“I call on the political parties to immediately go to the people with their agendas and focus on holding the CA polls by mid-April,” he added.

Nepali Congress leader Manamohan Bhattarai said, “There is no guarantee that a revolution always gives a good leadership. We are witnessing anarchism due to the failure to hold the CA polls.”

President of the Nepal Bar Association Bishwo Kanta Mainali called the Maoist to stop anarchist activities.
