BHOJPUR: The month-long public awareness campaign against diseases caused by iron deficiency has ended recently. According to district public health office, the campaign made the public aware of ill effects of iodine deficiency and the measures to be undertaken for its prevention. According to Dr Surendra Prasad Chaursiya, despite the lack of exact statistics on victims of iodine deficiency, most of the children in the mountainous and hilly parts have been affected. A survey found that more people in rural areas have been using iodised salt. -- RSS
