KATHMANDU, MARCH 14
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, has encouraged the general public to donate organs posthumously.
During an event organized on the occasion of World Kidney Day, the Minister emphasized that the culture of organ donation could save multiple lives. "Organs extracted from individuals suffering brain death could save the lives of many," he stated, underscoring the importance of increasing public awareness about kidney donation.
The world, including Nepal, observed World Kidney Day under the theme of 'Kidney Health for All - Advancing equitable access to care and optimal medication practice'.
Individuals with diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, heart diseases, and those with imbalanced diets are vulnerable to kidney diseases. Data shows that 10 percent of the total global population suffers from kidney diseases.
