Health workers deprived of monthly salary

DAMAULI: Health workers serving the GP Koirala National Respiration Treatment Centre based inĀ Belchautara, Shuklagandaki Municipality-5 of Tanahun have voiced their complaints for not receiving salary for over four months.

As many as 57 out of 60 health workers and staff members of the hospital, working on a contract basis, have complained that they did not get salary since mid-September. Only three health workers are serving the hospital on deputation.

Puja Karki, a non-gazetted first class officer working at the administration section of the hospital, said that they were facing problems as they had not received salary in a long time.

Karki, hailing from Sindhuli, said that they were compelled to ask for money from their family members for their daily subsistence. "I am managing my livelihood expenses from home despite being employed."

Dr Raj Kumar Shrestha, chief of the treatment centre at the hospital, said they could not provide salary to health workers as the government has not allocated budget for the hospital.
