Health workers’ strike hits patients hard
Banke, November 19:
Strike of hospital staffers in several health institutions across the nation has left patients reeling due to the lack of medical treatment.
Sagarmatha zonal hospital had shut its services, except emergency ones, for the
past six days, to protest the alleged encroachment on its premises. The staffers of Janakpurdham hospital, too, shut services in the hospital from yesterday, demanding security of health workers. Staffers in Nepalgunj medical college and Kohalpur teaching hospital didn’t attend their duties today, demanding pay hike.
The employees of Nepalgunj medical college have put forward 27-point demand, including pay hike. Abdul Hussain Khan, chairman of the employees’ organisation of the college,
said the employees were forced to disrupt services in the hospital after the management turned deaf ear to their demands.
Though the management claimed that it was incurring loss, the employees maintained that the hospital was earning an annual profit of around Rs 70 million.
In Janakpur, physicians of the Janakpur zonal hospital shut the out patient department of the hospital.They are protesting explosion in the Bachchhar maternal home in Janakpur.
Even the private clinics were shut in Janakpur today.
