Helicopter rescues pregnant woman in Jajarkot
JAJARKOT: A pregnant woman has been rescued by a helicopter and taken to the regional hospital in Surket for treatment on Thursday.
Sangeeta Shahi Singh of Dhauni in Kuse Rural Municipality-1 of Jajarkot district was rescued by Nepal Army helicopter yesterday. However, upon arrival at the regional hospital, she gave birth to a still-born baby. She is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
According to Kuse Rural Municipality-1 ward chair, Gopal Nepali, the tragic situation occurred due to lack of health post in the ward.
Earlier, local health workers had referred Sangeeta to other hospitals outside the district after she failed to deliver a baby even after five days of her due date.
Despite suffering from labour, Sangeeta was kept in the village owing to lack of finance and geographical difficulty, ward chair Nepali said.
"In coordination with the concerned authorities, finally, NA helicopter rescued her and took her to the regional hospital in Surket for further treatment," Nepali shared.
After preparing the rescue procedure 2018, the government has been providing free helicopter rescue service to those in need, since January.
