Help for HIV victims

KAVRE: Plus Nepal, a Kavre-based organization, has launched a support programme targeting the quake-affected HIV victims in Kavre.

As a part of the programme called emergency support programme, which is supported by Save the Children and National HIV/AIDs Federation Nepal, the HIV victims will get Rs 15,000 each in the first phase.

Plus Nepal is coordinating the support programme. According to Plus Nepal chairperson Kamal Banjara, the programme is aimed at inspiring the HIV victims affected by the massive earthquake to start income generating activities.

“As a part of the programme, we’ll provide the amount to 45 HIV victims in the district,” Banjara said, adding, “We hope they will utilise this amount to start some small-scale enterprise.”

As per the data with Plus Nepal, there are around 307 HIV victims, including 106 females, in the district so far.
