Bajura, December 5
SOS Balgram Dhangadhi today rescued children left in a lurch in Swamikartik Rural Municipality, Bajura.
Two children had become helpless after their mother Bachhi Luhar died some four months ago. Debadatta Luhar, 3, and a six-month-old Basanti became helpless. The children had been taking shelter in their relative Suki Luhar’s house.
The father of the children Gorakha BK, who works as a labourer outside the district due to poor economic status, returned home some days ago.
The SOS came to the rescue of these two children after the news of their plight was covered in THT three weeks ago. Chief at SOS Balgram Dhangadi Padam Hamal said the children were rescued. He said Balgram had taken up the responsibility of food, shelter, study and nurture of the children.
Similarly, Rs 66,150 was collected to help the children. The amount was also handed over to Gorakha through Chief District Officer Ganga Prasad Neupane today.
Swamikartik Rural Municipality Chairperson Chiranjibi Shahi said the rural municipality had also helped the children with Rs 25,000.
