Hetauda Hospital employees up in arms
HETAUDA: Claiming that the Hospital Management Committee was reluctant to address their demands, the agitating employees of the Hetauda Hospital have intensified their protest programme.
The hospital employees have been agitating for last one month by tying black band on their arms. They have demanded the utilisation of hospital resources, management of quotas for doctors and other staffs in the hospital, providing facilities by formulating hospital code of conduct.
The agitating employees today gheraoed the hospital administration. They said that they would give continuity to the gherao programme till April 7.
Hospital Management Committee, however, termed the struggle politically motivated. Rajiv Subedi, Chairman, Hospital Management Committee, said that though the committee was ready to address genuine demands of hospital reforms, some staffers had been continuing agitation.
He further blamed the agitators of demonstrating indifference though they had held talks with the protesters.
On the contrary, the hospital employees have accused the Hospital Management Committee of conspiring to suppress their genuine demands.
Prabin Pudasaini, Secretary, Employees Union, warned that they would padlock hospital administration and the office of the chairman for indefinite period if their demands were not met.
Meanwhile, issuing press release, Nepal Health workers and Employees Union and General Federation of Nepalese Trade Makawanpur have expressed their solidarity in the agitation of hospital employees.
