High Court bans female livestock slaughtering

The High Court in Tulsipur has ordered meat traders in Rapti Rural Municipality of Dang district not to slaughter and sell female livestock without permission. A division bench

of judges Shiva Narayan Yadav and Ishor Raj Acharya issued the order on Monday.

The order came in response to a case filed by meat traders against the standard that disallowed them to slaughter and sell female livestock. They had filed the case against the office of the Rapti Rural Municipality, its chairman, vice-chairman and the chief administrative officer.

Balaluddhin Khan of Gadhwa Rural Municipality, Gulam Ali Sahi from Rapti Rural Municipality-2, Abdul Mahajid from Ward No1 and Karma Singh KC from Ward No 3 of the same rural municipality had filed the case on October 6. Rapti Rural Municipality welcomed the court order.
