Pokhara, December 30:

Locals and the family members of a doctor, who died in a road accident on Thursday, blocked Prithvi Highway today in Lekhnath municipality of Kaski district demanding compensation.

Dr Prakash Thapa, 26, was severely hurt in a mishap on Thursday while he was going towards Prithvi Chowk on his motorcycle collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. He died undergoing treatment at Manipal Teaching Hospital.

His kin is demanding Rs 10 lakh as compensation, said CDO Bhola Prasad Shivakoti. He said Dr Thapa’s relatives launched the protest when the truck driver stated his inability to pay the asked amount.
