Hill people take out solidarity rally
Rajbiraj, October 28
People from the hill community today staged a demonstration in Rajbiraj expressing solidarity with the ongoing Madhes agitation.
The solidarity rally that began from the premises of Shiv Temple made a round of major areas of the town. The demonstrators from hill community shouted slogans against the state’s indifference towards the Tarai agitation and called the government to address the demands of the agitating parties.
Vice chairman of the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, Saptari, Kumar Shrestha said the government should address the demands raised by the agitating Madhes-based parties at the earliest.
Stating that the prolonged Tarai agitation had made life difficult across the country, Shrestha urged the government to be serious towards settling the problem in the Tarai.
Saptari Chairman of Tamang Ghedung, Bhim Bahadur Tamang, condemned the excessive use of force by the police on the peaceful agitation launched by Madheshi and Tharus.
Chairman of Newa Society, Saptari, Arun Kumar Pradhan asked the government to hold talks with the agitating parties.
Similarly, Chairman of Saptari Brahman Society, Jagadish Aryal urged the government to find a solution to the unrest in the Tarai.
