KATHMANDU, MARCH 27

The newly appointed Home Minister, Sudhan Gurung, has instructed officials to simplify service delivery and adopt a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.

Assuming office at the Ministry of Home Affairs today, he directed staff and stated that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in corruption.

"There will be zero tolerance for corruption. If someone demands a bribe, it will not be tolerated," he said.

Minister Gurung, stating that he has taken charge of the ministry to ensure effective service delivery for the people, instructed officials to introduce a streamlined single-window system for public services. He also said he would focus more on delivering results than making statements.

"Service delivery is the top priority. The situation where service seekers have to move from room 1 to 2 to 3 or from A, B, C must end. Citizens should not be required to visit individual officials to get their work done. This is how good governance can be ensured," he said.

He further stated that all officials must implement Cabinet decisions in line with the mandate of the Gen Z movement, making it clear that no one has the discretion to disregard government directives.

During his briefing, the Home Minister said the recent changes were made possible through the sacrifices of Gen Z youth and requested ministry staff to observe a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs.

Prior to the briefing, Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha, the Inspector General of Nepal Police, the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, the Chief of the National Investigation Department, and senior ministry officials welcomed the newly appointed Home Minister at Singha Durbar.
