Hospital vandalised over death of new mother
Dadeldhura, June 15
Kin of a woman who died of complications after delivery vandalised Dadeldhura Hospital last evening.
They charged that doctors’ negligence had resulted in her death.
Irate relatives of the woman obstructed vehicular movement in the district headquarters, Baghkhor for an hour.
Twenty-six-year-old Geeta Tamrakar of Amargadi Municipality-6, was first admitted to the hospital two weeks ago due to labour complications. The doctors had conducted a cesarean section on the woman to bring the baby out.
Tamrakar and her baby were discharged from the hospital after seven days.
The new mother was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning, after 14 days, following continuous bleeding. She died at the hospital yesterday afternoon in the course of treatment, which prompted the kin to resort to agitation accusing doctors of negligence in treatment.
The hospital, however, has denied any negligence on its part.“She was in good condition when discharged. She was brought back here after seven days citing some health complications.
As for the bleeding, that could be because the patient did not get proper rest or she was involved in some physical work. Though we transfused eight blood, we could not save her,” said medical director Jitendra Kandel, adding that there was no mistake on part of the hospital.
Meanwhile, the protest has brought services at the hospital to a grinding halt affecting many service seekers.
