Hubby, in-laws thrash Rautahat woman to death for defying dinner order
RAUTAHAT: A woman in Jatahara village of Rautahat district was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws for failing to prepare the food they demanded.
Police said Sajara Khatun (22) of Jatahara VDC-4 was thrashed and murdered by her husband Shesh Juman and his parents on Friday night.
Preliminary investigations suggested that she was murdered after she denied preparing puris (deep-fried breads) for the dinner yesterday, DSP Sudheer Raj Shahi of the District Police Office said.
"The family members were planning to rush her to a hospital after the woman fell unconscious in the attack," the police official quoted a neighbour as saying, "But, she breathed her last after few minutes."
The husband and his parents have fled to India after the death, according to Shahi.
"We are communicating with Indian police for their arrest," Shahi said, "We will nab them soon."
The body is kept at the District Hospital for postmortem.
