Human rights violation cases up in Gorakha

GORAKHA: Cases of human rights violation have increased in Gorakha district of late, according to an INSEC report.

Amid a programme, INSEC representative Narahari Sapkota informed that 14 human rights violation cases were reported in six months' period.

Of them, 11 are related to rape and the remaining to polygamy.

Studying the review of cases that occurred from January to June in the district; the Informal Sector Service Centre said that cases of rape and polygamy were found to have been increased.

Most of the girls suffering from mental illness and disabilities were the victims of rape, the INSEC report stated.

Human rights activists have expressed concern over increasing cases of domestic violence.
